About Us
Book Readers & Horn Blowers is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation dedicated to sparking a passion in children for reading books and playing musical instruments.
Mission Statement:
To enhance the cognitive development of children by encouraging them to read and to learn to play musical instruments. To give children a greater understanding of their cultural heritage by teaching them about significant people in American history.
What We Do:
We give interactive educational programs in elementary schools for children in grades K-6. These programs are designed by professional educators, and presented by professional musicians and storyteller.
The program is crafted around a children’s book featuring the biography of a famous American. The music and presentation teaches the children about the life, the music, and the important contribution of this person to American art and culture.
We us props, posters with sample of music terms and lyrics, audience participation, and songs as part of the interactive program.
