Featured Program: The biography of a famous person from American History is
the centerpiece of our program, and includes the culture and music important to
that person, and why that person is important to American culture and heritage.
Instrument Petting Zoo: Up to 75 students are invited to participate in
an instrument petting zoo, where the students have the opportunity to experiment
with an instrument. Target audience includes students who will be eligible for
band in the next school year.
Curriculum Enhancement Packet: Sent by mail to the schools about two
weeks in advance of the program, this CEP includes a copy of the featured book,
a music CD with selections of the featured music, and activities for students
which address Indiana Academic Standards in Language Arts, Music, and Social
Studies.
Book Donation: Subject to availability, 30 children's books are donated
to the school's library, supplied by a generous sponsor.

Time Frame: Programs are scheduled during the school day, morning or
afternoon.
Audience Size: We request no more than 250 per session, usually two
sessions per programs, with early elementary group and upper elementary group.

Nothing.
Sound too good to be true?
Here's how it works: Since Book Readers and Horn Blowers
is a nonprofit company, we are eligible for grants and donations. Each community
has a pool of financial resources, and most are very generous and anxious to
support this kind of program. Our dedicated staff is continually seeking funds
to present this program in schools at no cost to the school.

The only catch is that the granting process
takes time. The granting process from beginning to end can take anywhere from 6
- 18 months. So, right now, we’re looking ahead to the spring ‘06 and the
‘06-‘07 school year.
Note: Occasionally, we are unable to secure sufficient funding to present our
program. We regret that we cannot guarantee funding. However, our success rate
exceeds 90%.
